A Testimony of Salvation

Ephesians Chapter 2

Salvation= deliverance from the power and effects of sin.  Deliverance; Rescue.  Have you been delivered from the power of sin?

Are you saved?  Have you accepted Christ and His payment on the cross for your sins?  Ephesians Chapter 2 teaches salvation.

Verse 1 tells us that we are quickened (made alive) who were dead in trespasses in sins.  Of course this is not talking physically but spiritually.  We are all spiritually dead until we accept Christ as our Saviour and then we are made alive by Christ.  Praise the Lord for that! Ephesians 2:1- "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;" KJV

Since Chapter 2 talks about salvation,  I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to share my salvation testimony.  If you are not saved, I encourage you to read this chapter and see how you can be saved.  There is nothing like knowing you are on your way to Heaven without a doubt.

My Testimony

I was practically born on a church pew.  Ever since I was born I was attending church.  Let me just pause here and say... I am so thankful for my upbringing.  Being raised in a Christian home is something I will always appreciate.  I am thankful that my parents always brought me to church and taught me about Jesus at a very young age. No matter how difficult life was at times, my parents always remained faithful.

One day, I was at my grandparents house in Colorado.  They had a two story house and I went upstairs with my grandpa.  I was 6 years old.  I told him that I wanted to ask Jesus into my heart.  My grandpa was a preacher.  I naturally wanted to go to him to learn how I could get saved.

He opened his Bible and showed me several verses, he talked with me and made sure I understood.  I know I prayed that day.  However, when I was about 12, I was lying in bed and couldn't sleep.  I was staring at the ceiling and completely terrified that I was going to die and spend an eternity in Hell.  I just couldn't get peace.  So, I got up and went and told my parents.  My Dad took his Bible and showed me the salvation verses and made sure I understood.  I know I prayed that day as well.

Time progressed and I was 17 and a senior in high school.  Sitting through several Bible classes in my Christian school, I was heavily doubting my salvation.  I didn't tell anyone this time though, just kept thinking about what to do.  I remember coming home one day and I listened to one of my grandpa's sermons that he had recorded a long time ago.  I didn't even listen to the whole thing when I ran down the stairs and told my mom I didn't know for sure that I was saved.

I called my grandpa right away.  I knew the verses and totally understood what Jesus had done for me.  I let my grandpa know that I wanted to be saved and he prayed for me and then I prayed asking Jesus to save me.  Why did I doubt?  I am not sure.  Could I have truly been saved at 6 years old, or 12 years old? Possibly.  For me, I needed to KNOW for sure.  I knew that it was not just saying a prayer that would save me.  It was placing my faith in Jesus Christ.  Believing what He did for me on the cross and trusting in Jesus to take me to Heaven.

It is a wonderful thing to know without a doubt that you are saved and on your way to Heaven.  God has given me peace and I know I am His.

How about you?  Have you trusted Christ to take you to heaven when you die?  Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."   You cannot work for it.  Salvation is a gift, it is free, all you must do is accept it.

How To Accept Christ as Your Saviour

If you have not accepted Christ as your Saviour, this is how you can...

  1. Admit that you are a sinner- Romans 3:23- "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

  2. Believe on Lord Jesus Christ and accept His free gift of salvation- Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 10:9-10- "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Jesus died, paid the price for our sins, and He rose again.  Believe on Him today so you can KNOW that you have eternal life in Heaven.  Simply pray and ask Jesus to save you.  He will right away.  Tell Him you believe on Him and what He did for you on the cross.  Remember it's not a prayer that saves you, it's placing your faith in Christ.

Do you have a changed life?  My life will never be the same because of Christ.  He makes all the difference.
